In other GWAR news, the boys have just finished up a hugely successful European tour, which included eye-popping performances at the Bloodstock, Summer Breeze, and Sziget festivals, as well as a packed gig in the heart of the Kreuzberg, at Berlin’s famous SO36 Club. This followed the completion of tracks for their new album, “GWAR’s Bloody Pit of Horror” out this November on Metal Blade Records in the U.S., AFM in Europe, and distributed by King Records in Asia. There is no doubt that as GWAR’s 25th Anniversary approaches its halfway point, making the event a two-year celebration was a good idea. “What does time matter, anyway?” said Oderus, reached via carrier-pigeon at the group’s Antarctic stronghold. “If things keep going this well, we will add more years as needed…then, when we finally have drained every drop of hype we possibly can from our 25th Anniversary, we will proceed directly to our 50th, which we will celebrate for an indefinite period.” Catch GWAR on the “Bloody Tour Of Horror”, with The Casualties, Infernaeon and Mobile Deathcamp: 10/2 - Baltimore, MD @ Sonar *Festival Appearance TWITTER FEEDS: |

Breaking News!
Announce Details of “Robot Hive / Exodus” Expanded Reissue + DVD
Add Headlining Appearances to US Tour w/ Black Label Society and Children of Bodom!
Maryland hard rock band Clutch is coming up on their 20th year, maintaining a consistent following with constant touring, unique wit, and fearless tendency to mix metal with genres like blues and funk. - Billboard
With over a dozen recordings, Clutch has routinely pushed itself creatively for each album. The progress has been subtle enough that the band has never been accused of abandoning its core musical ideals, yet noticeable enough to create an expectation for new sets of ideas with each new release. -Relix
Clutch have announced the track listing for the expanded-dual disc edition re-issue of “Robot Hive/Exodus” which will be released worldwide on September 28th through Weathermaker Music. Currently out of print, “Robot Hive/Exodus” was at one point the band’s largest selling title of the decade due to the strength of its three extremely powerful yet diverse singles, “Burning Beard,” “10001110101″ and “Mice & Gods.” In addition to upgraded artwork and new “digi” packaging, this expanded edition will feature a bonus DVD which includes a classic 33 minute outdoor performance recorded on location at the Sounds of the Underground festival in July of 2005 in Sayreville, NJ. Also included is the Jeremy Hunt directed “Burning Beard” video clip, which was the first ever Clutch single to reach the “year end” Top 10 most played on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball.
In total, the “Robot Hive/Exodus” re-issue contains 23 songs and over 90 minutes of music. This is the second of three planned extended double disc re-issues, as Weathermaker has already released “From Beale Street to Oblivion” in July, and plans to issue forth the “Blast Tyrant” package in November. For the uber Clutch fan and/or retro rocker, Weathermaker will see to it that all three releases will make thier way onto limited edition vinyl.
On September 22nd, Clutch will embark on a nine week tour with Black Label Society and Children of Bodom. In addition to 40+ dates with Zakk Wylde’s widely popular hard rock act, the veteran rock band from Maryland have just announced six headline concerts that will be placed within the Fall tour, giving their North American fanbase close to 50 opportunities to see the band perform a combination of classic Clutch material as well as current fan favorites like “50,000 Unstoppable Watts,” “Let a Poor Man Be” and “Abraham Lincoln” from the band’s latest, Top 40 soundscan charting, “Strange Cousins From the West” full-length album.

gwar at “roo”
WORST EVERYTHING: GWAR
It’s the highest compliment we could pay the legendary shock-metal band. Among the atrocities committed by the mighty monsters of GWAR in the wee hours of the festival’s fourth day: live human dissection by buzz-saw, glorification of crack smoking, incitement to violence via brutal moshing, desecration of a deceased pop idol (Michael Jackson depicted raping an alien infant), and quite possibly treason as Barack Obama was eventually decapitated in effigy. But the encore beat all. After Margaret Cho mock-fellated singer Oderus Urungus to the brand new GWAR tune “Margaret Cho is a Ho” — resulting in a god-awful spray of fluids — the band marched to Bonnaroo’s famous fountain and dyed it blood-red. — CHRIS MARTINS…
more from the GWAR press release after bonnaroo…
This past weekend saw GWAR descend upon the traditionally hippy–fied Bonnaroo music festival to play a late-night Saturday set in front of 15,000 screaming fans. It was good enough to garner the band SPIN Online’s award for both best and worst act on the third day of the popular, drug-soaked music and art spectacle.
“A lot of people were very surprised to see us on the Bonnaroo stage”, said lead front-thing Oderus Urungus. “But the more traditionally heavy festivals, such as Ozzfest or Warped, who claim to support underground and heavy music, have consistently denied GWAR, the heaviest underground band EVER! And what’s even more ironic is that it took a bunch of tree-hugging hippies to give GWAR their biggest and best gig to date in the U.S. And that’s after years of killing them onstage. Thank you, hippies!”
The band had publicly pledged to nasally violate the entire Dave Matthews Band, then had expanded the threat to include Jay-Z, because “his nostrils are bigger”. But it was actually comedian Margaret Cho who became the sexual play-thing to the band. To the chant of “Cho is a ho,” the miniature Asian person took the stage during the bands encore and allowed Oderus to “fuck her face off”.
See exclusive footage of this disgusting event at GWAR’s webtv station, gwar.tv!
After the show, GWAR led a procession of blood-soaked fans to the “Mushroom Fountain”, where they had promised to make the waters “run red with blood”. The spectacle was met with mixed results.
“We didn’t kill enough babies,” said Oderus. “It came out kinda pink.”
